Leonard Thomas Wasilk passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024.
He was born on April 24, 1943. He grew up in Posen, Ml, where he earned his “PHD” he would say, his Posen High Diploma. His friends called him the Mayor of Posen, because he knew everything about the town and whose boy or girl was whose.
Lenny met Nancy on the 4th of July in the church parking lot in Posen. They married on October 28, 1972, and moved to Clarkston, Ml. Len loved cooking and had a huge garden once upon a time. If you needed something done or fixed, Len was the person for the job. His work ethic that he learned growing up on the farm in Posen, transferred to many aspects of his life. He enjoyed people and his relationships, and his family was very important to him.
Lenny was a member of St. Daniel Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was the financial secretary, and he was a member of the Eagles as well. Lenny retired from General Motors in Pontiac, Ml where he worked for 41 years. Lenny enjoyed driving Jesuit priests for Colombiere, golfing, driving his golf cart in Florida, hunting up north, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Attending the Posen Potato Festival was one of the things Lenny enjoyed doing every year. He would go back to his hometown, visit the farm and reconnect with his old friends and family. Lenny and Nancy were amazing Polka dancers and enjoyed Polka dancing when they attended the festival. He also enjoyed donuts every Monday with his friends and telling jokes. Lenny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Wasilk and two children: Chris (Kim) Wasilk and Tim (Sarah) Wasilk of Clarkston, MI and his six grandchildren, Chase, Jaiden, Keegan, Smith, Ava and Presley Wasilk; his sisters Lorraine (Fred) Budnik and Dolores (Ernie) Kurkierewicz. He was preceded in death by brother Eugene, father Sylvester and mother Theresa.
