The Clarkston Everest Collegiate Girls Cross Country team finished as Catholic League Champions.
They took first place in the Catholic High School Cardinal Division Championship last Friday.
The Mountaineers finished in first place with 40 points.
All five scorers were named All-Catholic for placing in the Top 15 which were senior Erica Walker in third place in the time of 21:07.50; freshman Allison Schmitt, sixth, 21:52.10; senior Isabella Page, 11th, 22:45.40; sophomore Susan Nedwick, 13th, 22:48; and senior Maria Saad, 14th, 22:49.60.
Royal Oak Shrine finished in second place with 45 points; Ann Arbor Greenhills, third, 55; Austin Catholic, fourth, 116; Madison Heights Bishop Foley, fifth, 119; and Detroit Cristo Rey, sixth, 162.
The Mountaineers also won the Mark Carpenter Sportsmanship Award, voted on by the league’s coaches. It’s the sixth time in the nine years of the program’s history.
Everest competes in the MHSAA Division 4 Girls Cross Country Regional 33 on Friday. -W.P.
