Clarkston swim and dive team defeats Athens

INDEPENDENCE TWP. — Clarkston Girls Swim and Dive finished their dual meets with a win over Troy Athens last Thursday, 115-70.
Scoring points in the individual events were: in the 50-yard freestyle, Sophia Love in first place in the time of 27.51; Ella Johnson, second, 27.70; Ella Guzal, third, 29.00; 100-yard butterfly, Johnson, second, 1:07.67; Bella Popiolek, third, 1:17.83; 100-yard freestyle, Avery Gralewski, third, 1:01.45; Love, fourth, 1:01.86; Estella Emerson, fifth, 1:06.21; 100-yard backstroke, Bayla Zarzycki, second, 1:12.16; Guzal, third, 1:22.83; 100-yard breaststroke, Tyler Craig, first, 1:22.66; Ella Kurmaniak, second, 1:23.86; Savannah Ryan, third, 1:28.92; 200-yard freestyle, Gralewski, second, 2:15.44; Popiolek, third, 2:18.37; Gwen Brumbaugh, fourth, 2:28.54; 200-yard IM, Kurmaniak, third, 2:40.62; and 500-yard freestyle, Craig, first, 6:12.98; Brumbaugh, second, 6:30.69; and Jac Ellingsworth, third, 7:07.14.

For relays, in the 200-yard medley, the team of Zarzycki, Craig, Johnson and Kurmaniak finished in first place in the time of 2:08.02; and the team of Brumbaugh, Ryan, Guzal and Allie George, third, 2:22.80. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Gralewski, Guzal, Johnson and Love finished in first place, 1:54.31; and the team of Popiolek, Emerson, Ryan and Brumbaugh, second, 2:02.95. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Love, Popiolek, Gralewski and Kurmaniak finished in second place, 4:17.83; and the team of Zarzycki, George, Emerson and Craig, third, 4:43.00.
For 1-meter diving, Sarah Ostheimer finished in first place with 174.20 in six dives; Aubree Zeiman, second, 160.25; and Emma Garner, fourth, 122.55.
Ferndale High School – Ferndale, MI, Clarkston defeated both teams in a Tri-Meet with a 159-6 win over Harper Woods, and 142-41 win over Ferndale, Oct. 17.
Scoring points in the individual events were: in the 50-yard freestyle, Kurmaniak, first, 27.78; Emerson, third, 30.65; Olivia Booker, fifth, 34.52; 100-yard butterfly, Caitlin McGivern, first, 1:18.22; Gralewski, second, 1:20.40; Isabella Wright, fifth, 2:00.92; 100-yard freestyle, Love, first, 1:02.65; Craig, second, 1:03.92; Emerson, fourth, 1:06.66; 100-yard backstroke, Marion Walters, first, 1:12.94; McGivern, second, 1:14.47; Booker, fourth, 1:28.85; 100-yard breaststroke, Kurmaniak, first, 1:22.61; Ryan, second, 1:28.25; Suzanne Valla, fourth, 1:39.22; 200-yard freestyle, Craig, first, 2:18.73; Popiolek, second, 2:24.29; Johnson, 2:27.92; 200-yard IM, Zarzycki, first, 2:46.31; Guzal, second, 2:52.20; Ellingsworth, fourth, 3:07.31; 500-yard freestyle, Zarzycki, first, 6:18.56; Brumbaugh, third, 6:33.51; and Ellingsworth, fourth, 7:10.63.
For relays, in the 200-yard medley, the team of Kurmaniak, Zarzycki, McGivern and Walters finished in first place in the time of 2:13.28; and the team of Ellingsworth, Brumbaugh, Guzal and Jasmine Scott, third, 2:28.95. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Johnson, Craig, Gralewski and Love finished in first place, 1:53.98; and the team of Kurmaniak, Emerson, Ryan and Walters, second, 1:57.90. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Love, Popiolek, Gralewski and Craig in first place, 4:19.95; the team of Booker, McGivern, Zarzycki and Johnson, second, 4:47.89; and the team of Brumbaugh, Ellingsworth, George and Scott, third, 5:01.92.
For 1-meter diving, Ostheimer finished in first place with 175.85 points in six dives; Zeiman, second, 155.40; and Julia Whitecar, third, 130.55.
The Wolves compete in the OAA Blue League Meet Oxford High School next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 5:30 p.m.
