Brandon swimmers wrap up season with third at league meet

Although they finished a distant third in the Flint Metro League meet Nov. 5-6, Brandon’s girls swimming team gained some valuable experience.
As expected, Fenton won the meet going away with 803 points. Holly finished well behind in second with 329, while the Blackhawks finished with 304.
The Blackhawks nabbed two third-place finishes at the meet, both in relay action. The 200 yard medley relay team of Amanda Dixon, Jessica Swineford, Jessica Kennedy, and Marisa Westphal finished in 2:18.60, while the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Shannon Penix, Kaitlin Grost, Alex Lindsay, and Kelly Kennedy finished in 1:59.48.
Brandon’s other top five finish in the meet came in the 100 yard butterfly, where Dixon finished fifth (1:15.81).
Other Brandon swimmers finishing in the top eight at their respective events are as follows:
‘Kelly Kennedy: 200 yard freestyle (eighth, 2:22.14); 100 yard freestyle (seventh, 1:06.11).
‘Jessica Kennedy: 200 yard IM (sixth, 2:48.80); 100 yard butterfly (sixth, 1:16.66).
‘Dixon: 200 yard IM (seventh, 2:49.56).
‘Stephanie Peck: 200 yard IM (eighth, 2:50.90); 500 yard freestyle (sixth, 6:24.65).
‘Penix: 50 yard freestyle (eighth, 30.71).
‘Aubree King: 100 yard backstroke (sixth, 1:18.26).
