Cedar Crest celebrates 20 years

Cedar Crest Academy has been a part of the Clarkston community for 20 years.
The school first opened its doors in 1984, when founders Bette D. Moen, M.Ed. and Dolores Imbrunone, M.A., decided to establish the school on the belief that providing students with personal attention would help them develop full potential.
Cedar Crest Academy is a private, independent day school, housing junior kindergarten through eighth grade. The academy provides a highly individualized program which prepares student to think, problem-solve and become valuable members of society, with the competence and drive to make a difference in the world.
Cedar Crest Academy inspires students to accept personal responsibility for their own learning, while creating a community that not only develops tolerance, but celebrates diversity. Offering small classes is the key to both faculty and staff gaining a greater understanding of each student and appreciating his or her differences.
The program creates opportunities specifically tailored to a students? needs by better observing and understanding the cognitive and emotional development of each student.
The pastoral setting combines non-traditional classroom buildings set in harmony with the surrounding environment.
The individuals associated with the academy were delighted to be a part of the anniversary, and look forward to many more years of accredited success.
