Goodrich’s girls soccer team is heading into district action on a winning note.
The host Martians routed Essexville Garber 9-1 in a May 23 contest, improving their season record to 11-2.
Goodrich was scheduled to play two more regular season games ? May 25 against Holly and May 26 against LakeVille, both at home ? before opening district action May 31 against Armada.
The winner of the Goodrich-Armada contest will take on Almont in the district semifinals Thursday, June 2.
On May 20, the Martians defeated host Montrose 5-1, scoring three goals in the second half to put the game away.
Ali Smith and Natalie Cook scored two goals in the first half for the Martians. Cassie Shepherd then scored two goals in the second half, and Meredith Mayberry added another goal to put the game out of reach.
The Martians shut out Lake Fenton 3-0 in a May 19 matchup. Amber Beard scored two goals and Mayberry one for the Martians, while Brittany Beard earned the shutout in goal.
