A 60-year-old Oxford man who was arrested for felonious posession of fire arms in January is now a fugitive.
William Curtis Everard was set to appear in federal court on August 22 to be arraigned on federal charges stemming from a January 19 incident where Everard allegedly shot and killed a neighbor’s dog, stating he was protecting his ducks.
A 1919 Michigan State law states a person can’t be charged for animal cruelty for defending their livestock, but Everard was hiding something even more incriminating.
According to the police report, detectives found 10 shotguns and rifles (including a Chinese AK-47), four handguns, 11 knives, a police scanner, a pellet rifle, a passport and more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition.
Everard is a convicted felon with a history of aggrevated stalking and previously owning a ‘chop shop? for stolen vehicles.
He was out on a personal bond of $50,000 and never showed up for his court date in August.
Detective Ken Alderman of the Oakland County Sherriff’s Department said after Everhard failed to appear in court, they visited his residence on Hummer Lake Rd. numerous times only to find it vacant.
‘His whereabouts are unknown,? he said.
