There’s a new super star in town setting the stage on fire? and his name is Torch.
He’s dynamic yet calm with full, flowing blonde hair and a regal appearance. Few can deny his charm and ability.
This Springfield Township resident is definitely a rising name in the world of modeling ? and he’s only six years old. Oh, and he still walks around on four legs.
Torch, a registered Afghan Hound, was recently selected as the canine face for Aston Martin’s Rapide press debut during the Detroit Auto Show on Jan. 9.
‘It was a great experience,? said owner Claudia Jakus, also a Springfield Township resident. ‘From the time I was exposed to? anybody connected with this show, I could not have asked for anyone to be more courteous. They were friendly, kind and wonderful.?
Torch, whose official name is CH. Summerwinds Fuels, the Fire CD, RN, SC, CGC., auditioned for his debut role on Jan. 8. He was discovered for the Aston Martin premier through the Sadie Hawkins Animal Modeling Agency. He listed with the company this past fall.
‘I thought Torch had all the character of an Afghan Hound ? he has the beautiful coat and everything,? said Jakus. ‘The best part is that he has a great temperament for these things.?
And the Aston Martin executives could not agree more. According to Jakus, Torch was originally cast to model in the press preview with Design Director Marek Reichman; Dr. Ulrich Bez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin; and another professional model.
However, Jakus was surprised to find Torch being taken for the photo shoot and finale.
‘He became known as the Aston Martin dog,? said Jakus proudly.
Success is nothing knew though for this award winning canine. Torch is an American-Canadian Show Champ, holds an Obedience Title and Rally Title, is a Senior Courser and a registered therapy dog at Crittenton Hospital. Oh, he is also brother to Bongo, the Jakus family’s other Afghan Hound.
‘I’m not worried about whether or not he’ll get any more jobs,? said Jakus, who does not train dogs for a living.
‘He’s just going to be my dog. If he gets more jobs, he gets more jobs. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. He’ll always be my dog.?
