Six bands composed of Clarkston Junior High School students competed in a battle of the bands on March 15 as the kickoff to fund-raising efforts for UNICEF.
The bands played mostly rock music and were judged by a panel of eight teachers.
The event, which was organized by the CJHS student council, had 370 guests in attendance and raised $1000. The school’s autistic program also raised several hundred dollars by selling concessions during the event.
Jon Paddock, science teacher and student council supervisor at CJHS, said the competition went very well and he hopes it will become an annual event.
