Fairy tales come to life

Ever wonder what a trial of the Big Bad Wolf or the Evil Witch might look like?
Students at Scripps Middle School brought the two trials to life in ‘Fairy Tale Courtroom,? a show in which the audience decided the verdict of the accused.
The school recently hosted two performances, and will perform part of the play during the annual Connections Festival on March 29.
Characters ranging from Cinderella and Snow White, to the Three Little Pigs and the Boy Who Cried Wolf, all testified during the play.
The characters were sworn in on The Brothers Grimm book, just one of the many clever moments in the play.
‘Because the audience decided the verdict, the students had to memorize two sets of endings,? said producer Ann Gustafson.
On opening night, both characters were found guilty.
‘They screamed when the Witch threatened to cast a spell on them,? said director Leann Lowe. ‘The kids were so proud.?
Of course everyone has their own favorite fairy tale, but Lowe said seeing all the characters on stage together made it tough to pick just one.
‘I can’t choose a favorite character or one the audience loved best, because that wouldn’t be fair to the rest,? she said. ‘They all did so fantastic.?
