Student art given permanent home at OMS

Every year, Oxford Middle School holds their annual honors night for students in each grade level.
This year, though, there were six students who were completely surprised and had no idea they were being awarded.
Eighth graders Natalie Musgrove and Kory Woody, seventh graders Brandon Pilette and Cody Ruch, and sixth graders Janice McCoy and Cassie Edgeman were each presented with a framed piece of their award-winning artwork.
Art teacher Linda Robinson selected each of the students because of their ‘exceptional workmanship? and ‘attention to detail.?
For instance, Woody created a self-portrait using a value scale, which is a variation of light and dark colors, Pilette created an Australian dot painting and McCoy painted in the style of Claude Monet.
‘This is the cream of the crop,? she said.
For the first time in the school’s history, the student’s artwork will be permanantly afixed to the walls in the many hallways.
Every year, two student’s artwork from each grade level will be selected to hang on the walls.
‘I thought it was important to showcase the student’s artwork,? Robinson said.
