Young golfers hit the tee boxes at Paint Creek CC

Look out, Tiger.
The next generation of golf stars took to the links this summer at Paint Creek Country Club, for the club’s annual Junior Golf Program.
Program volunteer Greg Kwasek said the junior golf program has been in existence for about 12 years.
The program is directed by Jeremy Lathwell, Golf Professional and Marc Vickery, Assistant Golf Professional at Paint Creek Country Club.
With a 30 percent participation increase from last year, the program gave 85 young players (ages 7-16) the chance to enjoy the full experience of golf by having fun and learning to play the right way.
The Junior Golf program is one of many offered to the members of the Paint Creek Country Club.
Kwasek said the program’s strength comes from its enthusiastic youngsters, strong parental support and a dedicated professional golf staff.
Spanning over three months, the program included three clinics covering golf etiquette, rules, putting, chipping and full swing instruction.
There were also eight weeks of on course play, in which the course was open only to the junior golfers.
Special tee markers, Green for beginners and Yellow for intermediate players, were placed on the edge of the fairways.
This design, consistent with U.S. Kids Golf Design standards, allows every golfer the opportunity for an achievable par.
The golfers participated in stroke and scramble events as well as special events, such as the Drive, Pitch, Putt National Competition and the Junior Club Championship.
This week, Paint Creek Country Club will host Junior Guest Day, another marquee special event, with an estimated 125 junior golfers expected to play.
The program wraps up with the Junior Banquet on August 29, with over 200 golfers, family and friends expected to attend.
