Two Orion Township fires caused different levels of damage last week, but fortunately no one was hurt in either fire, according to Orion Fire Department Marshal Bob Smith
The first fire, which occurred after 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 21, on Waldon Road, was started by an exterior plug outlet.
The fire resulted in minor damage to the siding of the home.
Smith said the homeowner called in the fire, and no damage was done to the inside of the home. No one was injured in the incident.
The second fire, which happend after 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, on Grafton, started in the fireplace and spread because the chimney was closed.
All five occupants had exited the home safely before the fire department arrived on the scene.
Smith said firefighters put out the fire in the chimney and under the roof.
Though the fire was not suspicious, and no fire investigator was called in, Smith said damage to the roof of the home was severe enough that the renters of the property are currently displaced.
