New coach Mary Abraham said her team had ‘nothing to lose,? when she made some changes in the lineup last week.
One match after the changes were made, Lake Orion found itself celebrating its first league win of the season, with a 6-2 knockout of host Auburn Hills Avondale on Sept. 28.
Both Katie Rice and Allison Diven, who flip-flopped spots in the new lineup, fell to tough opponents at number one and two singles, respectively.
But the rest of the squad picked up their top two players, as LO swept the remaining six matches.
Julia Jabczenski and Catherine Rolfe, at numbers three and four singles, both won hard-fought three set matches.
The doubles teams all had a bit of an easier time, all winning in straight sets.
Leslie Siedlak and Jennifer Kasper teamed at number one, Megan Colver and Erin Plecha played two doubles, Alysha Enjaian and Jordan Smietana won at number three, and Angela McBride and Kelsey Cooper, playing four doubles, rounded out the scoring.
The win, the third Lake Orion victory of the season, came just two days after a 6-2 lost at Rochester.
In that match, the numbers three and four doubles tandems accounted for both Dragon points, with Cooper and McBride winning in straight sets.
