Haddad, golfers qualify for regionals

Adam Haddad’s three-over-par 75 was good enough for a second place individual finish at Heather Highlands in Holly on Oct. 5, and it propelled the Dragons to a fifth place finish in the team competition.
The top six teams qualified for the regional tournament at Flushing Country Club Thursday, with the top-three there advancing to the state level on Oct. 20.
Lake Orion’s score of 325 placed them fifth overall, just 16 shots behind district champion Clarkston and 17 strokes ahead of sixth place Rochester, who had defeated the Dragons earlier in the week.
With that dual match loss, Lake Orion fell to 0-6 in OAA I play. Rochester won 158-165 at Paint Creek Country Club on Oct. 3.
The Dragons got a strong showing from junior Andy Bogus, who was low in the match with an even-par 35, but it wasn’t enough to top Rochester.
Haddad shot 42 for LO, with Austin Reddick and Logan Schlepeler each recording a 44.
The Dragons are 1-7 overall this season.
