The rumors of Red Knapp’s American Grill’s demise are false. In fact, the Independence Township business is not going out of business.
Owner Roger Knapp said the whisperings of a sale have been heard for nearly a year.
‘We’re making investments in this business,? Knapp said.
Not only is the business not going anywhere, the restaurant is having some work done.
The restaurant should be easier to find on Dixie Highway, because it will be getting a new, backlit sign and some new lighting along the exterior of the building.
‘Look at the investment we’re making, people don’t do those things, like putting out a new sign, if you’re selling the restaurant,? Knapp said.
Red Knapp’s is also taking on a more family-friendly approach as well.
‘We would like to be doing more family business,? Knapp said.
Something for grown-ups and kids alike will fill the front rooms at the restaurant: arcade games.
The restaurant will also install additional televisions in the dining room on the eastside of the building as well as new screens for the bar area.
Red Knapp’s also introduced a new menu on Dec. 15.
‘We’re real excited about the one-pound pork chop. It has a side of demi-glaze we put on it,? Knapp said.
‘It’s not overly sweet’we have high expectations for it.?
He said the restaurant is expanding the sandwich menu, adding fajitas and adjusting the way some items are prepared.
Knapp, who has nearly 50 years of experience in the restaurant industry, purchased the almost 7,000 square-foot building in 2004. Red Knapp’s also has a location in Oxford, which is 10 years old.
Red Knapp’s American Grill is located at 6722 Dixie Highway and can be reached at 248- 625-3900.
