Lake Orion schools winning state awards is not an uncommon thing, but now the Dragons have an award-winning middle school principal to boast about.
Alice Seppanen, principal at Oakview Middle School, has been awarded the State Middle School Principal of the Year, and will go on to compete in the national competition.
Seppanen, who was presented with a congratulatory banner by representatives from MetLife at last Wednesday’s school board meeting, was nominated by one of her employees for this honor.
‘Lake Orion is a better place because Alice is a principal at Oakview Middle School,? Lake Orion Schools Superintendent Christine Lehman said of Seppanen at the board meeting.
‘This award humbles me and honors me,? Seppanan said, thanking the school board and central office administration for their support over the years.
‘I love what I do,? she added. ‘It seems overwhelming to be honored to do what I love.?
