The Dragon boys soccer squad got a pair of goals from sophomore Reed Losee and shutout Troy Athens 2-0 last Thursday at Lake Orion High School.
The victory came after Lake Orion came back to tie Rochester Adams 1-all earlier in the week.
‘We did feel like there was a bit of a momentum swing after the Adams game,? Dragon Assistant Coach Geoff Harris said.
‘I think we possessed the ball most of the game,? he added. ‘The younger players really stepped up.?
The victory was the Dragons? first in league action, but Harris said that isn’t an indication of how their team has played.
‘Everybody in our division is tough,? Harris said. ‘There are no easy games.?
Aram Keteyian recorded the shutout, making a big save late, right before Losee’s second goal put the game away. The junior keeper has battled an injured thumb in the early part of the season.
‘He’s finally 100-percent,? Harris said. ‘It’s good to have a team that’s all healthy.?
Aram’s brother Jacob, as well as freshman Blake Skamiera, sophomore Derek Schrauben and senior captain Scott Morris have all battled the injury bug, according to Harris.
‘Unless you win the league, you really want to be healthy going into the playoffs,? he said, noting his team is back on track in that regard, and has high hopes for the season’s second half.
The Dragons improved to 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in OAA I action. The team hosts Rochester on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
