Webber students recycle their way to helping Earth

It was all about the planet and the importance of recycling at Webber Elementary last week.
According to Keri Soule, media specialist at Webber, the third graders issued a recycling challenge to their fellow Webber classmates, where each classroom in the school was to try to collect the most number one plastic recyclables in one week.
Each class was given collection bags, and last Friday, the third graders collected all the bags, counted the bottles and graphed the results of the challenge.
School-wide, Webber collected 6,655 plastic bottles, with Mrs. Lazzara’s fifth grade class collecting the most bottles. Along with bragging rights, the winners also received a trophy.
According to Soule, this was a way for Webber’s third graders to have a chance to make a real difference in helping planet Earth.
She added that the school will continue its efforts to make a difference by continuing to collect number one plastics for recycling.
