Local to be part of the fun in Detroit on Thanksgiving

Brandon High School’s Christy Lowe will perform in the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade Nov. 22.
Lowe is a high school senior and is also captain of the Brandon varsity pompon team. This past summer Lowe tried out for the Mid-American All-Star Pompon Team at the Mid-American summer camp. There were four different camps, and out of all the camps about 200 girls made the team. High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors were given the opportunity to try out.
‘Due to Christy’s great talent she made the team,? says Kristin Palmgren, Brandon High School varsity pompon coach.
‘Not only is Christy an amazing dancer, but excels academically in all of her studies.?
Besides performing in the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade the team will also perform at a Pistons game, and they have a chance of going to Disney World to perform.
‘The girls on the team are given a dance routine to learn by themselves before an event,? Christy says. ‘We don’t practice together until just before the event.?
Christy would like to go to Michigan State University, and wants to major in chemistry. She also wishes to dance on the school’s dance team. Christy has been dancing since she was five years old.
