Rogers visits Good Shepherd, awards students of the month

Mr. Rogers was in the neighborhood last week, as Congressman Mike Rogers paid a visit to Good Shepherd Lutheran School to award Students of the Month.
‘I’m really honored to be here and see so many bright, smiling faces,? Rogers told the group.
Good Shepherd Principal Nancy Burgeson introduced Rogers, giving both his background and telling the students that ‘he has a very, very important job.?
As well as the award presentation, Rogers also read a story (House Mouse, Senate Mouse) and had the students elect their own ‘mouse? for president.
The older students also read letters they had written to Rogers about various government concerns, such as funding for the arts and protecting the Great Lakes.
The students honored in Rogers? Student of the Month program display character and good attitude, and excel in and out of the classroom.
For November 2007, the following students were honored: Mia Nightingale, kindergarten; Grace VanDellen, first grade; Rylan Riethmeier, second grade; Cameron Goike, third grade; Kelsey Lobos, fifth grade; Matthew Studier and Gage Robertson, preschool: three-year-old; Ryley Youngs, Lacey Kennedy, Anna Sychta and Matthew Whitefoot, preschool: four-year-olds; and Rachel Koch, young fives.
