Congratulations to Kingsbury Country Day School for being awarded the official designation ‘Candidate Status? in the process to become an International Baccalaureate World School.
‘Like the finest schools all over the world, Kingsbury has something very special to offer students. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) certification has been earned by just 11 other schools in Michigan, and only one other elementary program,? said Gil Webb, the head of the school.
Kingsbury offers programs for children in junior kindergarten through eighth grade.
‘This is a long process, often four or five years, we will finish next year,? Webb said.
The new Candidate Status will mean many positive additions to the schooling at Kingsbury, which includes a strenghtened cirriculum and the IBO’s strict standards.
The existing curriculum will put additional emphasis on environmental education, integrated programming and hands-on learning.
Kingsbury now joins such award-winning schools as the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills and Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, by receiving this designation.
According to Webb, accelerated and defined learning goals and educational standards of excellence are ensured through IBO professional development opportunities.
‘The program is especially attractive for our southeast Michigan setting as the industries here attract so many international employees,? Webb said. ‘Children of international families will find the same curriculum at Kingsbury that they will find in any of the more than 2,000 IBO schools around the world.?
