Drew Maynard’s 22 points and 20 rebounds helped Lake Orion edge host Auburn Hills Avondale Thursday night in an OAA II match-up.
The game was close throughout, with the Dragons coming from behind in the fourth quarter to earn the win and improve to 5-1 in league action.
The win also ended the team’s four-game losing streak. Avondale, meanwhile, fell to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.
The Dragons also got 14 points from Chris Lum and 11 from Anthony Fields.
Earlier in the week, the team fell 90-64 at Romeo.
Romeo senior Blake Cushingberry got the best of his friend and future Oakland University teammate, Maynard, both on the scoreboard and in the scoring column.
Cushingberry had a game-high 40 points, one of the highest totals ever given up by an Orion team, while Maynard led the Dragons with 24.
