Lake Orion’s boys? swim squad placed 14th, while Seaholm edged Groves in a battle of Birmingham schools to win the Oakland County meet Saturday at LOHS.
The Dragons were paced by Petar Simic’s fifth place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.86, a D1 state qualifying time) and 11th place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.76).
Simic teamed with Peter Slavin, David Kullmann and Kyle Kibbe to earn fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:33.42, a D2 state qualifying time). Nicholas Leggieri, Simic, Kibbe and Slavin placed 12th in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.80).
Lake Orion earned 58 points as a team. Seaholm won with 304 points, 25 ahead of Groves.
Coach Paul Fairman said he was pleased by his team’s finish and their focus now shifts to the rest of their OAA II slate, which includes the league meet at Clarkston in two weeks.
Last week, the team tied North Farmington at 92.5-all, bringing their league mark to 4-0-1.
‘It would have been nice to win that meet going into the league meet,? Fairman said, noting it was the first time he had been involved in a tied meet.
