Bowlers fall short in first finals trip

A tough final team game bumped Lake Orion’s boys? bowling squad from contention for a spot in the final eight at Friday’s team state finals held at Northway Lanes in Muskegon.
League foe Walled Lake Central took home the state crown.
The Dragons were among the contenders through eight Baker games (where five team members bowl two frames each) and one team game (where five team members bowl an entire game each).
However, they followed a 962 showing in team game one with an 867 total in the second game, with their 3,523-pin total falling 189 pins shy of the eighth-place position.
Meanwhile, Rob Bondon placed 45th out of 60 bowlers in the six-game individual qualifying event on Saturday, missing out on a 16-player tournament that followed.
Bondon’s 1,153 pins were two better than 46th place finisher, Brandon Burgess of Oxford.
