Staff Sergeant Shawn Peterson is the latest soldier and first Marine to be honored at the Beaumont Medical Center as part of ‘Michelle’s Vision,? started last year by Michelle Schmalz.
Sgt. Peterson is the son of Arthur, a former Marine Sergeant himself, and Deborah, who reside in Oxford. He is married to wife Maria and resides in Lake Elsinore, California with their two young daughters, Aspen and Malina.
Sgt. Peterson is currently awaiting his second tour of duty in Iraq, having served a tour in Fallujah in 2006. He plans to stay in the Marines until retirement.
He has two sisters, Michelle and Jackie, and a brother-in-law, Chris, who will deploy to Iraq later this year.
Sgt. Peterson’s portrait was unveiled in February and will remain on site at the Beaumont building for the remainder of March.
