16 DECA students head to international competition

Congratulations to 37 Oxford High School students who participated in the state DECA competition at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn this weekend and the 16 who qualified for the 61st Annual International Career Development Conference in April 25-30 in Atlanta, GA.
DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service. Thousands of high school students, advisors and sponsors are expected to participate in DECA’s international competition.
‘I am extremely proud of the students and their accomplishments this year,? said Steve Ruch, DECA adviser at OHS. ‘It is always thrilling to see them get excited about their projects.?
Students who received awards for top projects in their respective categories include: Breann Alderman, Julie Ardelan, Sarah Beltowski, Richard Brady, Chun Ho Cameron, Jessica Chamarro, Aleese Darin, Kristie Day, Kyle Degryse, Taylor Dewey, Lauren Dial, Sarah Eisenberg, Angela Falzarano, Joel Fortier, Logan Fulk, Hannah George, Kelsey Girardot, Nissa Griffin, Joelle Harms, Jacob Havener, Kourtney Kadrich, Christopher Keenist, Melissa Labarge, Lauren Lacroix, Kaitlyn Landis, Katelyn McCormick, Jordan Murray, Jessica Nail, Nathan Olson, Mathew Patria, Rachael Precour, Jessica Pyke, Allison Rubio, Jordan Scholz, Scott Steffes, Chelsea Wood and Kristin Wygocki.
