Goodrich-Ryan Eskuri and Laura Eickhoff will not be throwing a ball at the Rose Bowl, but that does not mean they won’t be playing.
The two high school juniors will be performing in a country-wide high school band at the 2009 Rose Bowl in Pasadena Calif .
‘The band has about 300 high schoolers from all over,? said Eickhoff, a clarinet player.
Eskuri, a trumpet player, said every state will be represented.
The two heard about the opportunity to play at the game when they attended the Bands of America Summer Camp.
‘I got into that kind of networking and got an e-mail for auditions,? Eskuri said.
The audition process was online, sent in with technology called SmartMusic.
Playing at the Rose Bowl will be both Eskuri’s and Eickhoff’s first trip to the coast.
‘We get a tour of Hollywood and we get to go to Disneyland,? Eickhoff said. ‘I’ve never been to either place.?
Eskuri and Eickhoff do not brag about their opportunity to their fellow bandmates at GHS.
‘I don’t think our classmates care, anyway,? Eickhoff said with a laugh.
