Karassy honored with Matilda Glancy Award

Lake Orion resident Jeff Karassy puts a lot of heart and energy into his job at the North Oakland Medical Centers in Pontiac, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by those around him.
He was recently awarded the 2008 Matilda Glancy Outstanding Nurse Award.
‘Jeff is a very knowledgeable professional,? said Emily Clarke, Emergency Center Staff Member at North Oakland Medical Centers. ‘He takes his career very seriously and does whatever he can to improve our patient care.
‘After the expiration of a patient Jeff went above and beyond to work with the grieving family to find help for them,? she added. ‘He has donated time, money and his artistic ability to provide the Emergency Center staff with current, relevant information.?
The Matilda Glancy Award is a unique award presented to one exceptional nurse who has excelled at patient care and has made an effort to continually improve their nursing skills at North Oakland Medical Centers.
The award, which is named in honor of Matilda Glancy, a dedicated nurse who served many decades at North Oakland Medical Centers, is given by the North Oakland Foundation and made possible by a gift from the Glancy family.
Karassy, an Oakland Community College alumnus, has been a Registered Nurse at North Oakland Medical Centers for four years and has been an RN since 2000.
‘I like to help people,? Karassy said. ‘Winning the Glancy Award was the best accomplishment I have made. I felt appreciated and it was a nice honor.?
Originally from Plymouth, Karassy now resides in Lake Orion with his wife Beth. When he’s not working, Karassy likes to garden and loves to work with oil paints and acrylics. He also previously owned a pastry shop, where he made wedding cakes and breads from scratch.
