Fireworks show is ready to go

The fireworks show on Lake Orion will stay put this year, and again be shot from barges located near Squaw Island.
There had been discussion about moving the show into the bay, but all of the safety details could not be worked out in time to make the move a reality.
Police Chief Jerry Narsh said he is ‘extremely optimistic? that a move could be made for next year’s show, leaving the planning up to the Lake Orion Fireworks Association and Chief Pyrotechnics Operator Glenn Stokes.
LOFA President Carl Cyrowski said the decision on location is ultimately left up to Stokes adding that all the association is concerned with is ‘safety first.?
The Lake Orion Fireworks is set for Friday, July 4 at 10 p.m. with July 5 serving as the rain date.
The LOFA, meanwhile, is 75-percent of the way to their fundraising goal.
‘We need donations so we can get over the hump and have a great show for our Independence Day,? Cyrowski said, adding that donations can be accepted up to and following the show.
Donations can be mailed to the Lake Orion Fireworks Association at 1520 S. Lapeer Road, Suite 104, Lake Orion, MI? 48360.
