This is year five since the LOHS formed its first bowling teams and Head Coach Kevin Crowther is looking forward to a good season.
The varsity boys enjoyed a successful season last year, where they secured second place in the Oakland County Tournament and landed a spot in the State Finals.
‘This is the first year of the OAA Bowling League and the goal for the team is to win the league title,? Coach Crowther said.
This year they’ll see five returning players. Trae Bonds, Shawn Ramaekers, Brian Yang, Blake Stephen, Jon Miller, Rob Brandon and Jeff Suma Jr. make up the team.
Last Thursday the boys defeated Berkley, 27-3 with strong performances from Yang and Stephen.
This year’s varsity girls team is a ‘good group? but a little young and inexperienced in terms of competitive bowling, Crowther said.
Allison Berwick, Tessa Tomlin, Erica Eaglen, Kate Gladstone, Kenzie Stankiewicz, Amber Pochert and Brittany Diesbourg make up the girls team.
‘As a goal, this team is trying to improve enough to be competitive in the league and at the regional tournament in Feb.,? he said.
The girls also defeated Berkley on Thursday, 26-4.
