With a score of 197, the Lake Orion wrestling team came in first place at the OAA Red Tournament this past weekend at West Bloomfield Hills.
‘This group never ceases to amaze me,? said Coach Doug Kline.
With three starters out, including Tyler Benson and Layne Upcott, Kline said he prepared for a struggle.
‘We were minus three guns,? he said.
Instead, they became league champions for the second year in a row.
‘It was a remarkable testament to the kids,? Kline said.
Rochester Adams came in second at 180, third was Clarkston with 153, fourth was Rochester with 146; fifth, Troy with 123; sixth, Avondale, 112; West Bloomfield with 97; Troy Athens with 90.
Some of the top performers for Lake Orion included Jake Pratt, Doug Mack and John Atwater.
Justin Ruddy, Willy Stewart and Dom Arnold also helped out, Kline said.
‘They were huge. They really stepped it up, Kline said.
