Lady Dragons lacrosse is tied 3-3 in wins and losses so far this year.
On Wednesday night, varsity lost to Farmington by a score of 10-7. Jodie Parker added three points and Ronnie Booth added two. Chelsey Booth and Sam Bonkowski each scored one and Paige Hammerl helped out with an assist.
Goalie Lindsay Butterfield saved seven of the 17 shots on net. Natalie Pierson, Jessica Burke, Maggie Hughes and Val Kipp offered a strong defensive anchor.
‘We played well against Farmington. They simply caught the ball a little better than we did,? said Coach Bill Booth.
Friday night afforded the Dragons a win against Waterford. The final score was 6-4.
‘We controlled the ball in the mid-field, hustled more after ground balls and kept the ball off the ground,? Booth said.
Bonkowski and Parker were high scorers again, each adding two points. Hammerl and Ronnie Booth each scored a goal and had an assist.
Kipp, Burke, Sarah Cech, Hughes and Pierson held off Waterford, allowing them few scoring chances until late in the game.
‘Our defense was terrific at double teaming, switching and communicating with each other,? said the coach.
Butterfield remained strong in net, stopping a whopping nine of 13 Waterford shots.
‘At 3-3, we feel good about winning more than half our games against very good competition. The rest of our games will be very competitive and we expect to hold our own,? Booth said.
‘Both JV and varsity will be in North Farmington/Harrison on Wednesday, April 22. They’ll then travel to East Lansing for a statewide tournament on April 25. The girls return home April 27 for a game against Grand Blanc and, on April 29 they’ll take on Clarkston.
