Dragons hit ’em

The week of Monday, May 4 has been an unforgettable one for the Lake Orion boys? varsity baseball team.
The team accomplished a mercy rule on Wednesday, May 6, which is rarely seen in baseball. A mercy rule brings a game to an early end when one team is winning against their opponent by at least ten runs after five innings.
This game was called to an early close after the Dragons led against Rochester 13-2 in these eventful five innings.
In four of the five innings, Rochester played equivalent to Lake Orion. In these innings, Rochester and Lake Orion each scored two runs.
Nothing seemingly out of the ordinary, right? Not for those four innings.
But the second inning of the five was a completely different story. In this single inning, the Dragons scored eleven runs total.
Aidan Murdock led off the inning by hitting a home run, followed by another home run by teammate Andy Mosier, who went 2-for-4 in the game. These two home runs were back to back.
Phil Serzo, who went 3-for-3, scored a home run along with Vinnie Booker. Vinnie Booker had five runs batted in during the second inning.
Chris Baumann pitched for four of the innings, and John Williamson closed the game out.
‘The season this year is going great. We started off slow because we are a young team, and we needed experience. But once we started to find a way to win, it has been good,? Murdock said.
The game on Friday, May 8 against Rochester Adams went on for ten innings with still no winner. This game is currently tied 12-12, ending early on account of the rain. This game will continue at a later date.
