The Lake Orion girls? varsity soccer team moved up nine spots last week and another five spots this week in ESPN’s Fab 50 National Girls? Soccer poll.
The Lady Dragons are currently number 18 in the poll of soccer teams across the United States.
In the Michigan Division 1 poll, Lake Orion is number two, followed by Troy Athens at number three.
The Lady Dragons are undefeated. They have won sixteen of their games and have tied three.
On Wednesday, May 20, the girls won against Holly by a shutout of 3-0.
Goals were scored by Julianne Boyle, who scored twice, and Jamie Tasco.
On Thursday, May 21, the girls had another shutout, this time against Oxford rivals.
Lake Orion won 8-0.
Niki Read and Alicia Tirpak each scored two goals.
Coach Ken Snage is very proud of the girls. Throughout the season, he has described the girls not only as disciplined, hard-working and committed young women but also as kindhearted individuals who are motivated to make a difference in the Lake Orion community as well as on the soccer field.
Snage said that the team knows their motto, ‘Make a difference,? and they stay true to it. In all his years of coaching, Snage said that this soccer team may be the best he has ever seen.
