Martian nine catches 12th league crown

Goodrich baseball is addicted to championship drama.
The Martian hitters clinched their 12th league title in the last 14 years after winning both games in Tuesday’s double header against Lake Fenton.
The final scores were 14-1 and 18-4.
This year’s league victory was not a smooth road.
Goodrich finished last week with a double-header victory against Mt. Morris, the first place team in the league, ranked third in the state in Division II with a 29-1 record.
‘We had to play them on their field, with them needing to only win one game to clinch the championship,? said Bob Foreback, the Martians? head coach.
Goodrich came out strong on Thursday, May 21, scoring a total of 26 runs, with final scores of 11-4 and 15-5 against Mt. Morris.
‘I was amazed at how well we hit their pitchers,? Foreback said. ‘I think [Mt. Morris’s] nerves got the best of them.?
The second Mt. Morris game was won by a mercy rule with a homerun by Luke Jensen in the sixth inning.
Goodrich finished with a record of 17-1 in league play.
