Tyler Aust, 21, was found dead in his home on E. Shadbolt Street June 4. The Lake Orion Police Department suspects a heroin overdose though it’s awaiting confirmation from drug screenings
‘He obviously was fighting a drug addiction,? said Police Chief Jerry Narsh, ‘and it was a battle he lost. Once again, the monster claims another victim in Lake Orion.?
Officers found the victim’s body around 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the home’s common living area with heroin paraphernalia in reach. LOPD recovered ‘the works,? or, a spoon, syringe, tunicate and lighter, along with a homemade crack pipe and marijuana in the residence.
LOPD is investigating where Aust obtained the heroin, according to Narsh.
‘It should be noted that Mr. Aust was under the care of TTI (Training and Treatment Innovations) of Oxford, and the home he was located in is a TTI group home,? said Narsh.
TTI offers mental health services to individuals with psychiatric, developmental and drug problems.
The police chief also urges any residents who have information on this or other instances of heroin abuse to be proactive in prevention.
‘Contact a pastor, parent, counselor or law enforcement,? he said. ‘Be proactive.?
