Offer two cents at budget hearing

Community members have a chance to speak on what makes ‘cents? to them for the school district’s 2010/11 budget.
The board will hold a public hearing, Wednesday, June 23, during their meeting before discussing the budget, which could include around $6 million in cuts.
A copy of the budget and the proposed property tax millage rate is available at the administration building for inspection during business hours.
School officials have continually said financial estimates are only as good as the day they’re made, and as of the board’s June 9 meeting, budget cuts were estimated around $6 million.
Earlier estimates were at $9 million, but administrators say a $3.1 million reprieve could be coming from the state after sales tax revenues were higher than expected.
Board meetings begin at 7 p.m. The administration building is located at Church and Lapeer Streets
