GOB Gymnastics took part in North America’s largest and longest running international games last weekend.
On Aug. 7, the local gym sent three gymnastics to the CANUSA games, a competition 53 years running that focuses on giving amateur athletes a chance to showcase their talents across the Canadian-United States border.
Amanda Frezza, GOB head team coach, said the gym has taken part in the games for four years. This year’s local gymnasts were Savannah Leist, 9-year-old Goodrich student; Olivia McGeachy, 14-year-old Brandon student; and India Tailor, 11-year-old Goodrich student.
‘The girls showed well,? Frezza said. ‘We competed against the Canadian gymnasts for a trophy and the US won with an excess of six points over Canada.?
The gymnasts? ages ranged from 8 to 18 and there were 34 total between the two countries.
‘The gymnastics competition is a chance for many girls to participate in an international experience,? said Jennifer Rainville, coordinator for the gymnastics competition.
