Brandon Twp.- The school board elected to go with experience Wednesday night.
By a unanimous vote at a special meeting Feb. 12, the board appointed Debbie Brady to a trustee seat. The newest member of the school board replaces Le Anne Schmidt, who stepped down last month. Brady will complete the term that ends Dec. 31, 2014.
‘With my experience, I can fit in quickly and catch up fast,? said Brady, who previously served on the school board from 2009-2012, including positions as vice-president and secretary. ‘I have worked for years to make sure the kids in this community get the best we have to offer. I want to work with the board to make the best decisions for the community.?
She noted the next big decision for the board will be the imminent selection of a superintendent candidate. Immediately following Brady’s appointment, the board went into closed session to consider the applications of 40 candidates for the position of superintendent. Current Superintendent Lorrie McMahon is resigning at the end of the school year.
Brady, who is employed with Fisher & Company of Fenton, on the autotech team, cites finances as the biggest challenge facing the district.
