A Clarkston favorite is coming up this weekend, featuring entrees and desserts from dozens of local restaurants.
In its 18th year, the Taste of Clarkston will be combined with the 43rd annual Art in the Village.
Hosted by the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, Independence Township Parks, Recreation and Seniors and the City of the Village of Clarkston, over 50 local restaurants and exhibitors will be downtown to welcome visitors.
Admission is free to Taste of Clarkston. Patrons purchase food tickets at the event to use at vendor booths.
Children’s activities and entertainment will also on site and free. bounce houses and carnival games of Al Deeby Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. KidZone activities will be in the Washington Street parking lot and HealthQuest parking lot.
Two stages will feature live local musicians. One stage will be at the corner of Church and Main streets, where DJ Greg Martin, Audrey Ray Band and Angela and Tom Sheppard will perform throughout the event.
Another stage will be located at the corner of Washington and Main street,s where Sam VanWaggoner Band, Tedder Productions and the Andy Patalan Trio will perform. Andy Patalan’is best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist for the’alternative rock’band Sponge.
In addition to the live local musicians, performers will include stilt walkers, Renaissance Festival characters, pop up entertainment, and 94.7 WCSX is broadcasting live at 3 p.m. next to the Bowman Chevrolet Exhibit at the Clarkston Union.
Free parking and free shuttle bus service on Sunday at Clarkston Elementary, Clarkston Junior High School and Clarkston Renaissance High School, Clarkston High School beginning at 11:30 a.m. and running to 6:30 p.m.
The Taste is Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m. on Main Street in Historic Downtown Clarkston.
Visitors can also check out Clarkston’s 43rd annual Art in the Village, held on Saturday and Sunday in Clarkston’s Depot Park, features over 80 artists with creations using wood, glass, pottery, paintings, photography, textiles, jewelry and more.
Art in the Village is hosted by Clarkston Community Historical Society, and is the Society’s major annual fundraiser.
Copies of “Images of America: Clarkston,” by Clarkston author Cara Catallo and the CCHS will be available. Visitors can view images of the history of the village and Independence Township.
