ZSIDO, Alan; of Groveland Township; formerly of Wyandotte & Sterling Heights; age 66; November 23, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer; husband of Leanne; father of Kelsey; brother of Art (Ann) Zsido; brother in law of Bethany (Louis) Robinson-Calvisi and Kurt (Kimberly) Robinson; also many nieces & nephews. Alan’s passion was helping people. He retired as Pontiac Fire Deputy Chief and was instrumental in the development of urban search
and rescue capabilities in southeastern Michigan and throughout the state. Additionally, he developed and taught Firefighter Safety, Rapid Intervention Team, Survival and Technical Rescue programs for over 30 years. Alan served as a Rescue Team Manager in the early stages of the Michigan Urban Search and Rescue Task Force and also as a Search Team Manager when Michigan -Task Force 1 started. He lived life to the fullest every day. Alan enjoyed mountain biking, wind surfing, hiking, skiing and scuba diving. He will be remembered for encouraging people in seeking knowledge & understanding.
