Once again Oxford’s Varsity Women’s Basketball team was able to improve their record with a 43-39 win over Lapeer East on Oct. 9.
The Lady Cats held back East during the first half despite being plagued by fouls and opened the third period with 22 points on the board. East came back for a fight during the second half, but Oxford held their ground on the home court.
Leading the way for the Wildcats was Jenni Rhodes with four 3-pointers and Megan Stumph with 11 points. Team captain Denise Spratley contributed three points and held strong with eight rebounds, while teammate Ally Zonsius had four points and five assists.
Oxford plays again on Thursday, Oct. 16, at home, against Richmond. The Lady Cats go in with a record of 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the league.
