A night of comedy, excitement and a trip back to the 1950s awaits you at Oxford High School’s production of Guys and Dolls this weekend, Nov. 20-22, at 7 p.m. in the commons area.
Come and follow the tale of Nathan Detroit (Darren Johnston) as he tries to hold one of his infamous crap games, and simultaneously attempts to avoid marrying his fiancee of 14 years the lovely, yet sassy, Miss Adelaide (Courtney McGraw). Watch the hysterics unfold as Detroit pulls the debonair Sky Masterson (Matt Steffens) into the show and bets him $1,000 he couldn’t win the heart of the local mission maid Miss Sarah Brown (Marion Gentry).
What will the roll of the dice bring to these four Broadway hoppers – will Masterson really pull off one of the biggest cons ever, or will he lose the bet and his heart? Will Detroit set up yet another craps game right under the eyes of the law, or will he simply end up at the chapel with a blood test and a ring?
Make sure to come and enjoy an evening at the local crap game, or take a jaunt into the Hot Box for some dancing. No matter what the preference, this year’s musical promises to provide one “high rolling” night.
Director Margaret Payne, Assistant Director Debbie Brown, Pit Director Mr. Gibbons and Pianist Suzie Ward are proud to bring this musical to the Oxford High School commons for all to enjoy.
“It was a lot of hard work on both parts,” said Brown, “but I feel as though we are ready for opening night. It will be a good one.”
