?2004 Student Ski & Snowboard Club:
Students at Brandon Fletcher Intermediate school, Brandon Middle School, and Brandon High School can now sign up for our 2004 Ski & Snowboard Club! The dates are Fridays, January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 2004. Brandon School District provides transportation to Mt. Holly after school. The buses return the students to Brandon Middle School at 9:30 p.m. The cost is $90 and includes either a Student Ski Discount card or Student Snowboard Discount card. Call for more information, or stop by and pick up a packet!
‘Boys? Recreational Basketball for 3rd through 6th Graders:
Boys in 3rd and 4th grades and 5th and 6th graders are eligible for this instructional program. The program is held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings, from Jan. 10 through Feb. 18, 2004. The program is held at Brandon Middle School and costs $77 for residents, which includes a reversible ‘Shooting Stars? jersey. Returning players who already have the jersey only pay $60. Nonresidents please add $10.
‘Boys? League Basketball for 7th through 10th graders (Session I):
This competitive program is governed by MHSAA rules, with some modifications. Everyone plays, and teams are selected following an evaluation night. Preregistration is mandatory, and parent coaches are needed. Evaluation night is Tuesday night, Jan. 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Games and practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Brandon Middle School. The program runs from Jan. 8 through Feb. 12. The cost is $35 for players who already have a ‘Shooting Stars? jersey, and $52 for players who need a jersey.
‘Christmas at Crossroads Village:
Family fun and adventure awaits you on this exciting trip through Crossroads Village on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Spectacular Christmas lights enhance all the fun of walking, viewing and shopping the old 18th Century village. Once you have viewed the village, take a holiday joy ride on Huckleberry Railroad and see more amazing lighting displays. This is truly a must-see for the whole family! The bus leaves at 4:30 p.m. from St. Anne’s Church back parking lot, and will return at 9 p.m. The cost is $10 per person, and there is a limit of 45 people. The deadline for registration is Friday, Dec. 12.
‘Ski & Snowboard Discount Cards
Student Ski Discount I.D. cards and Student Snowboard Discount I.D. cards are now available at the Brandon Township Recreation office. The cards are good Monday-Friday (non-holiday) from 3 p.m. to closing time, and allow the student to purchase a lift ticket for only $13. The ski discount card includes two free ski lessons, and the snowboard discount card includes one free snowboard lesson. The student discount cards cost $13 each, and must be presented at Mt. Holly or Pine Knob to receive the discounted lift ticket. Adult discount cards are also available for $10, and consist of ten $5-off purchases, good anytime.

Just enter the site, click on ‘Brandon Recreation Department,? then click on ‘Program Information.? Although you cannot register online, you can go to ‘Registration? or ‘Forms? and print a Brandon Township Recreation registration form. This form can be mailed to us, or deposited in our bright blue drop box at the BACK of the Brandon Township Municipal Building at 395 Mill Street, P.O. Box 929, Ortonville, MI 48462. ‘Skate Park Closed for Winter:
Please note that the Ortonville Skate Park at Sherman Village Park is closed for the winter months. The Skate Park will reopen on April 15 for the 2004 season.
‘Christmas Parade:
Come and participate in Ortonville’s ‘Christmas in the Village? Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m., with participants lining up at 9:45 a.m. at the Senior Center (corner of Ball and Cedar Streets). We are eager for groups and organizations to create walking groups and floats for this annual event. Santa will be downtown at the Brandon Township Fire Department after the parade for children to visit, and the tree-trimming ceremony will be next to the Old Town Hall. Preregistration for the parade is a must. Forms are available at the Brandon Township Recreation office, and the deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 2. Participation in the parade is free.
