Clarkston Census completion rate almost 80 percent

Clarkston residents are well above the state average for completing the 2020 Census.
As of June 30, Clarkston’s completion rate was 78 percent, compared to the 68 percent across Michigan. Nationally, the completion rate was 61.8 percent.
Updated results are available at www.2020census.gov/en/response-rates.
The Census takes just a few minutes to fill out and also impacts medical, education, bridge and road infrastructure and the funding of countless important programs.
While there is no concrete deadline to respond to the Census, there are a few key dates to note.
From July 1 to Sept. 3, Census takers will work with administrators at colleges, senior centers, prisons, and other facilities that house large groups of people to make sure everyone is counted.
Then, from Aug. 11 to Oct. 31, Census takers will interview homes that haven’t responded to the 2020 Census to help make sure everyone is counted.
The Census Bureau will deliver apportionment counts in December to the President and Congress as required by law.
By March 31, 2021, the Census Bureau will send redistricting counts to the states. This information is used to redraw legislative districts based on population changes.
