The Wolves were put to the test last week as they played West Bloomfield and Flint Powers Catholic.
The Clarkston Girls Varsity Basketball team lost to West Bloomfield at home last Thursday, 73-41.
“We know who they are,” said John Weyer, head coach. “They are a state ranked team with seven Division 1 players. They are really good. I thought we hung with them especially in the first quarter.”
Clarkston opened the scoring with a basket from Olivia Toderan off a pass from Kaelyn Kaul.
The Lakers grabbed the lead with four points from Lola Chambers.
Toderan brought the Wolves back into the lead scoring two baskets, 6-4.

“Olivia scored our first six points of the game – that’s just senior leadership right there,” Weyer said. “I am so proud of her. For her to come out like that knowing the odds we were up against and to play with that amount of heart, just charge our team forward and keep us there with it in the first quarter – it’s just great.”
Maddy Skorupski kept the score tied at 8-8 after West Bloomfield sank two baskets of their own.
The Lakers grabbed the lead again with a 9-2 run to end the first quarter, 17-11.
Skorupski led with 12 points and Toderan had ten points. Morgan Hunter had seven points.
“We just need to tighten some things up around the edges. We have to box out a little better,” Weyer said. “We have them again. It’s going to be another test and we will see how far we’ve come. It’s a good measuring stick.”
The Wolves (4-1) defeated Flint Powers Catholic on Friday, 80-37. Skorupski had a triple double with 18 points, ten rebounds, ten assists, five blocks and four steals. Toderan had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists and Emerson Wood had ten points.
