The Clarkston Boys Varsity Lacrosse team closed the regular season with a 10-6 win over Cranbrook on Saturday.
Senior Harry Skinner opened the morning game with the first goal three minutes in.
Clarkston grabbed control of the ball at faceoff and sophomore Ryan Phyle scored the second goal less than 30 seconds after the first one with an assist from sophomore Zaiden Green.
“Zaiden had a good day,” said Brian Kaminskas, head coach.

Cranbrook tied the game with two goals with five minutes left in the first quarter before sophomore Blake Berry added the Wolves’ third goal with 48 seconds left.
Clarkston added two goals with two minutes remaining in the second quarter with one from Green with an assist from senior Jack Gurn and one from senior Sam Lightfoot.
Senior Michael VanGilder saved Cranbrook’s shot on the net with 39 seconds remaining.
Green opened the second half with a goal to widen the lead to 6-2.
The Wolves opened the week with a 9-8 win over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.
“It was closer than it needed to be but that will happen,” Kaminskas said.
Clarkston lost to East Grand Rapids on Thursday, 10-3.
“It was a really good game,” said Kaminskas. “We were within two with about eight minutes left. They put on the gas a little bit and took advantage of us. They are the number one team in Division 2 and third in the state. We schedule those games at the end of the year as a warm up to the playoffs. Even earlier in the week we weren’t disappointed. We weren’t disappointed with the effort the guys gave.”
Clarkston (12-4) plays in the first round of the MHSAA Boys Lacrosse Division 1, Region 8 First Round on Friday against the winner of the Brandon/Lapeer game.
“It’s going to be interesting,” Kaminskas said heading into the postseason looking ahead to who the Wolves might potentially play. “Midland we played earlier in the year. They were down a lot of guys when we played them. They are going to be dramatically improved I would expect, as we are. We are finally full strength – just about. We lost one player this week. We are back and running. It will be good. Our guys usually do a good job this time of year.”
The game is at 5:30 p.m. at Clarkston High School Stadium.
