Clarkston Varsity Baseball finished the regular season with a 1-1 split over Grand Blanc, May25.
“It was senior day and it was nice to honor our 11 seniors in between games,” said Addison Turk, head coach. “Both games we competed well.”
The Wolves opened with a 6-4 loss. Grand Blanc scored two runs in the fifth inning and Clarkston took the lead in the sixth inning with four runs. The Bobcats tied the game with a run in each the sixth and seventh inning and won the game with two runs in the eighth inning.
Luc Brumm had one hit with a double and two RBIs. Robby Elliot went 3-for-3 at bat with one RBI. Trevor Garrett had one RBI. Gavin Malthaupt had a double off his one hit.
Alex Hayward pitched 5.2 innings with four hits and four strikeouts.
“Alex pitched really well in the first game and gave us a chance to win,” said Turk. “We just fell short.”
The Wolves won the second game, 6-5, with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the win.
Mason King and Luke Spicer both went 2-for-3 at the bat with one RBI each. Brady Krzciok had two RBIs off his one hit and Lucas McKinney had one RBI with one hit.
Garrett pitched for just over two innings with four hits and Trevor Busyn pitched for two inning with two hits and one strikeout.
The Wolves (9-20) opened the playoffs in the MHSAA Division 1 Baseball District 31 on Tuesday against Davison and won in extra innings, 6-5.
They play Oxford in the district semifinal on June 5, 11 a.m. The district games are at Lapeer.
