RUSH Robotics camps made their return last week with a variety of camps for different grade levels.
“Camp is going great,” said Jordan Bailey, a senior on the Team RUSH 27 Robotics team at Clarkston High School. “They all seem to be enjoying it and everybody wants to come back the next day.”
She added there was a maximum of 16 for each camp due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“I have been working on the junior FLL Camp. They are all a really great group of kids,” said Bailey, adding they were focusing on the environment and building things like wind turbines and recycling trucks. “It’s great.”
Senior Adam Walsh was with SPRK Camp, a new addition, for students going into 3-5 grades.
“We are basically using robots called spheros. They move around and teach them about programming. Because it’s the first year it’s been a little rough but we are learning a lot for next year’s camp.”
Camps offered this year were RUSH Junior LEGO Robotics, for grades 1-3; TinkerCAD Camp, for grades 5-8; SPRK Camp, for grades 3-5; RUSH First LEGO League Robotics, for grades 3-5; and Team RUSH Clean Planet Initiative, for grades Kindergarten-3.
All camps are led by Team RUSH 27 students and offered through Clarkston Community Education. For more information on the robotics team, please visit www.teamrush27.net.
